Automation

Automation allows settings such as level, pan, or effect amount to change over time automatically.

Level relevance: introduced at Higher; tagged for every later level where the same concept remains useful.

Explanation

Automation is used when something in the mix needs to move or change across the track. For example, a vocal can be lifted slightly in the chorus, a delay can be increased for one phrase, or a pan position can shift over time. Automation is especially valuable at Higher and Advanced Higher because it allows mixes to be more controlled and more expressive.
